South Africa faces ICT skills shortage

A new article from IT News Africa has shown that although Africa’s economy is set to rise by five per cent this year, it is facing a shortage of skills ICT professionals.

To highlight this, South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs has issued a detailed list of open technical jobs in the nation, with people needed for almost 3,000 software and application programmers roles, nearly 3,000 project and other manager roles and 1,600 ICT support technicians roles.

The region is in need of more students and graduates with knowledge in key areas such as mobile computing, social business, analytics and cloud computing.
